A sweet dream come true
In October 2018, Marlà was born from the union of the names of its founders, Marco Battaglia and Lavinia Franco. What began as a love story quickly evolved into a sweet and ambitious venture, A pastry shop blending tradition and innovation into every creation. Today, Marlà stands as a symbol of quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and the sourcing of the finest ingredients, offering pastries that amaze both in flavor and presentation.
MAIN CHEF
Born in Milan in 1987, Lavinia Franco started her academic journey in economics and marketing, gaining valuable experience in communication and fashion. However, her true passion for pastry led her to Paris in 2013, where she enrolled in the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Academy, one of the most renowned culinary schools worldwide.
After completing her training, Lavinia further honed her skills with an internship at the workshop of renowned pastry chef Philippe Conticini in Paris, where she mastered the art of French pastry.
Upon returning to Italy, she continued to develop her craft at top-tier pastry labs, blending the finesse of French techniques with the traditional Italian quality-focused approach to ingredients to create her own distinctive style.

In 2023, his dedication and talent earned him a place in AMPI (Italian Masters of Pastry Academy).

Discover our key milestones
We crossed paths in 2016 and immediately recognized that the fusion of our differences could lead to something truly special. After years of hard work and preparation, in 2018, we opened our pastry shop on Corso Lodi, just a stone’s throw from Porta Romana in Milan. We’re passionate about traditional pastries, but we also love experimenting with new flavors and combinations that we’re sure will surprise you.
In January, on a freezing day, our dream begins to take shape: the construction of Marlà starts. A few months later, we celebrate our love with a sweet “yes,” creating our wedding cake with the help of friends and pastry colleagues.
On October 20th, Marlà opens its doors to a warm reception that leave us speechless. A year of unforgettable moments, where life and the art of pastry come together in perfect harmony.

At the historic Reggia di Colorno, home to ALMA—the International School of Italian Cuisine once led by the legendary Gualtiero Marchesi—Marco achieves a defining milestone in his career. By successfully earning the title of Maestro AMPI, he joins the ranks of Italy’s pastry elite, reaffirming our commitment to excellence.
Ending the year on a sweet note: Marlà takes a place on the podium in the Under 35 category at Artisti del Panettone. This honor is a testament to our dedication and provides the perfect boost of energy to tackle new projects with enthusiasm and creativity.
